About this tour

Chitwan National Park Jungle Safari varied altitude, ranging from 100 meters around the floodplains of Narayani and Rapti to 815 meters towards Make friends (from a distance) with the Greater One-horned Rhinoceros and explore the potential of spotting the rare Royal Bengal Tiger in this exciting Chitwan National Park escapade.

This 5-night 6 6-day adventure takes you to the south-central Terai plains of Nepal to one of the most popular national parks of South Asia where you will immerse yourself in natural abundance. Chitwan National Park, established in 1973, is the first national park of Nepal and also a World Heritage Site – having been granted the status in 1984.

Extending over four districts, namely Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Parsa, and Makwanpur, the Park covers an area of 952.63 sq. km and an additional 750 sq. km of the area has been designated as the buffer zone.

The National Park is easily accessible from Kathmandu as several flights go to Bharatpur Airport every day, from where it is just around 10 kilometers. A road trip is also a viable, enjoyable option as you would be driving alongside the ever-lively Trishuli river – the drive would take around 5 hours from the capital.

Chitwan National Park Jungle Safari makes for the perfect wildlife adventure getaway because it provides an outstanding opportunity to observe wildlife in close proximity. Activities like canoeing, jeep safari, nature walking, and bird-watching are popular among domestic and international visitors alike as they ensure an immersive, memorable experience.

Since it is easily accessible from the state capital and because the buffer zone is well-facilitated with resorts and lodges of all ranges, it is the preferred National Park to explore for most nature lovers.

  • Spend your first night in Kathmandu itself.

  • The flight to Bharatpur airport is a short one - just 25 minutes. Have breakfast at the hotel and take off from Kathmandu airport.
  • From Bharatpur airport, it is around half an hour’s drive to Chitwan National Park which you will be traversing for the next couple of days. Head towards the west sector, called Kawasoti where your resort is located.
  • Enjoy a warm welcome and refreshments, along with lunch, before you head out to the Tharu village. Exploring the indigenous ethnic community is as much a highlight of the trip as other jungle activities because the Tharu people have coexisted with nature and its other inhabitants for eons.
  • After the Tharu village excursion, head back to your resort for dinner.

  • Brace yourself for the day is going to be an extraordinary one! The time after breakfast is for gaining proximity to the flora and fauna of Chitwan National Park.
  • Set off down the Rapti river on a dugout canoe and watch the forest glide by - or is it you gliding by? You will see gharials and mugger crocodiles basking on the riverbanks, perhaps some even coming in to catch a fish or two for their lunch, and spot different species of birds flying overhead.
  • Then visit the Elephant Breeding Center that houses these majestic beasts. You will get to know how they are taken care of, what they are fed, and perhaps even make a friend or two!
  • Lunch will be followed by a jeep safari which will take you into the heart of the jungle for an even more immersive experience. Be on the lookout for animals like the one-horned rhino, deer, and elephant, and birds like peacocks or jungle fowl. If you are lucky enough, you might even spot a Royal Bengal Tiger - keep your fingers crossed!
  • Enjoy the Tharu cultural program in the evening.

  • There’s a lot more to see! After breakfast, go bird-watching and, depending on the time of the year, you will be able to spot various native and visiting species of birds like the Lesser Florican, Giant Hornbill, White Stork, Black Stork, and so on.
  • Have a relaxed lunch before heading out again on a nature walk for a knowledgeable overview of the National Park. Try to make as little noise as possible so as not to scare off or disturb the animals, and listen to your guide’s instructions to handle and be safe during any sudden encounter with wild animals. Along with the one-horned rhino and rare Bengal tiger, there are a plethora of other animals to be on the lookout for, like pangolins, lizards, foxes, badgers, and so on.
  • Dinner and overnight at your resort in Chitwan National Park.

  • This is the final morning in Chitwan so savor it while it lasts as you enjoy a scrumptious breakfast. Then drive to Bharatpur airport for the flight back to Kathmandu.
  • The rest of the evening is free for you to go for a bit of shopping, or maybe simply relax and reminisce about your memorable Chitwan adventure.
  • Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

  • Enjoy the final breakfast of your trip in Nepal, and then drive to Tribhuvan International Departure for your flight back home.
  • We wish you a wonderful flight - do visit Nepal again, because, as the saying goes, one is not enough!
