One of Nepal’s most picturesque locations, the Langtang Valley trek was once a favorite place among trekkers who were looking for breathtaking scenery, authentic culture, and warm hospitality in charming homestay guest houses. However, due to the Langtang residents’ ongoing efforts to rebuild their lives after the April 2015 earthquake, the Langtang Valley is essentially empty these days. Survivors of the earthquake-caused landslides were forced to flee the valley, but they have returned to reclaim their homeland, rebuild their homes, and re-establish their farms.
Trekking through this lovely valley will help the Langtang community by generating much-needed income for their safe and secure rebuilding. This is not charity work; rather, it is the practical side of sustainable travel, where your choices can honorably assist the local population while preserving their sense of self-worth, culture, and way of life. When you decide to trek in Langtang, prepare to be astounded by nature, humbled by the human spirit, and involved in regional solutions.
The small town of Syabru Besi is where the trek begins. To reach the high alpine meadows and yak pastures near Kyangjin Gompa (a Buddhist monastery), you must trek through magnificent forests.
At Kyanjin, 3,800 m (12,467 ft) above sea level, we’ll hike to the highest point. You will drive back to Kathmandu after retracing your steps down the valley.
A helicopter ride out of Kyanjin might be added if time is limited and money is not an issue. This will not only make the journey much shorter and avoid the need for you to go back the same way, but it will also give you incredible views that you won’t get to see any other way in this Langtang Valley Trek.
